About ICE
Insight Central Europe was started in October 2001, when Radio Austria International invited international public service broadcasters from Poland (Radio Polonia), the Czech Republic (Radio Prague), Hungary (Radio Budapest) and Slovakia (Radio Slovakia International), to a conference in Vienna to discuss cooperation.
The result was a weekly English language magazine programme on Central European issues. Initially it was produced by Radio Austria International, but since April 2004 it has been produced by Radio Prague, based in the Czech capital. In 2002 the initial team was joined by Radio Slovenia. The programme is broadcast by all the participating stations on a variety of platforms - from shortwave to satellite and FM.
The Insight Central Europe website was set up in 2004. It is based at Radio Prague and is updated weekly.
Insight Central Europe is supported by the goodwill and financial commitment of all the contributing stations, and it has been helped by a series of grants, primarily from the European Commission and the Visegrad Fund.
